The Master of Guru Courangipa was from Eastern India. The king God Protection, had a son. When the prince was twelve years old, his mother, the queen, got seriously ill. On the queen's deathbed, she told the prince that “Virtuous and evil deeds by sentient beings generate happiness and pain for them, respectively. You cannot do evil even though you lose your life.” Then the queen died. Later, the king married a new queen at people’s request. A few days later, when the king left for forest for relaxation, the new queen visited the palace and saw the prince; then craving grew in her mind. Thus, she sent messenger to invite the prince, but the prince was unwilling to do so. She felt ashamed and thought that the prince despise her, and thought of ways to kill the prince and told her henchmen. However, the henchmen replied the queen that “It is wrong to kill the prince, because the prince is noble.”
The queen came up with a plan. She scraped her whole body bleeding, tore her clothes and laid on her bed. When the king came back, he asked the Queen, "What has happened to you?" The Queen said, "Your son was obscene and shameless, and made me like this." The king said, "If he was so indecent to you, I will kill him." And he sent two executioners to brought the prince into the forest to cut off his hands and feet. The two executioners considered: "It is not good to kill a prince, it is better to kill their own son instead." They told the Prince," We can't kill you. For your safe, we will kill our own son." The prince replied, "It shouldn’t be like this. Please kill me. 'My Mother's last words to me said: ' You cannot do evil even though you lose your life.' Please follow my father’s command!" So, after that, they came to a big tree. The prince's hands and feet were cut off and two executioners left.
Then a great yogi, named Acinta, came to the Prince to gave him empowerment and teaching. After that Acinta met some sheperds and tell them: “Under the big tree , over which vultures are flying, is a man whose hands and legs were cut. Could anyone go there?” Among them a kid of man selling incense answered: “ I can go there but if I help you, you should help me as well.” So the yogi help him take care of the cow herd. The little shepherd came to the place over which vultures were hovering and saw a man under the big tree then returned to tell Yogi Acinta.. The yogi asked if the little shepherd have food. “My boss, the owner of the herd, gave me some food and I would like to share with him and take care of him.” the little shepherd answered. “Then please take care of ZhuoLangka(prince’s name)” the yogi told the little shepherd. The little shepherd built a house around the tree with leaves and removed the sludge and dirt from the prince’s body by hand. Just like this, the little shepherd took care of the prince for twelve years. One day the little shepherd came to the house and saw the prince standing up. The little shepherd was full of astonishment and doubt. Out of the prince mouth flowed: “Sage guru was showed me about the hidden wisdom, I know the truth of the world, all things should discriminating mind. “So my hands and legs resumed as they were.” the prince told the little shepherd from the sky: “I will give you teaching of pith.” The little shepherd answered: “I don’t want your teaching. My guru only asked me to serve you.” After saying this the little shepherd went back to pasture cows.
Yogi Acinta came to see the little shepherd and the shepherd told Acinta the whole story. Yogi was so delighted to hear the story that he granted an empowerment and impart teaching to the shepherd. After that, Yogi left for other places. Through diligent practice, the shepherd realised the nature of Mahamudra. Then, Yogi appeared and taught him: "It is not until ten million sentient beings have been enlightened that you become a Buddha. " Thus, the shepherd granted an empowerment to anyone he could. The Sky spoke to him: "You should not empower to anyone you could. Instead, empower to those who pray to you for it. Granting an empowerment to those who have no faith and those who lack wisdom is unsuited. "
After that, as indicated by the prophecy the shepherd benefited millions of disciples and guided them to liberation, just like he took care of his herd. Hence the shepherd was named Courangipa, and his reputation was widespread. Until now, the master would still empower those who have connection with him. Those without karmic obstruction and having opportunity can hear the master hit dharma drums while others cannot.
