入座前立誓的重要性 ▏The Importance of Making Vows Before Meditating

首先，第一个誓言：

“我要修一个小时或两个小时，在此期间无论谁、纵然是大恩大德的父亲来到，我也绝不中断入座而随着迷乱所转。”

为了稳固第一个誓言，接着还需立第二个誓言：

“纵遇命难，我也不舍弃第一条誓言。”

这样可使第一个誓言更为坚固，若没有第二条誓言，第一条誓言并不是稳固的。

立誓的目的，是为了遣除人与非人的一切违缘。

Before meditating, we should visualize that Buddhas, bodhisattvas and the root lama are in front of us. The first vow is that ‘I will practice one or two hours. During this period, I will never stop the meditation and be distracted in confusion, no matter whoever, even my father of great virtue and kindness comes’. In order to stabilize the first vow, there is still a second vow, ‘I will not give up the first vow even if I am in danger of death,’ which can make the first vow stronger. Without the second vow, the first vow is not firm. The reason for making vows is to avert all obstacle of humans and non-humans.
