何以耽着这果？ Why care about the result?

“虽福暂时未至，但祸却早已远离”此话出自《了凡四训》。

还有一句脍炙人口的经典“勿以恶小而为之，勿以善小而不为。”它出自《三国志·蜀志传》。

这两句话，尽管是跨朝代，跨时空，但是其意契合完美，从佛学角度来观察，一个是教人从善而发，属于在因上的警示。同时还告诫人们，善与恶是互为对立的关系，要谨慎取舍。另一个则是从果而入，告诉人们，你如果做善事，虽然并没有看到福报来临，但是灾祸却已经远离了，这其实就是一个果报。反之，人如果做坏事，虽然还没有看到灾祸到来，但是福报却已经远离。

中国的传统文化包含着儒释道精神，非常奥妙。我们的佛法更是自始至终告诉我们，幸福是什么？怎么可以带来真正的幸福？痛苦是什么，怎样才能避免痛苦。很多时候，我们学佛才刚刚开始，眼睛就盯着家里哪些地方会发生变化，恨不得一学佛就变成想啥得啥的神人。因此，正确的因果观一定要有，信心也一定要坚定。种瓜得瓜，种豆得豆，因果真实不虚。如果能够戒恶修善，清净口意，何以耽着这果？把豆种好了，到了秋天，绝不会长成瓜。

嘉样堪布

Although good fortune has not arrive, bad fortune left far away already.

This comes from" Liao-Fan’s four lessons", there is also another well-known saying, “Don’t do any evil no matter how insignificant it is, don’t miss doing any good no matter how insignificant it is” which comes from< Three kingdoms. Shu zhi zhuan>

The meanings of the above two sentences fit perfectly although they span dynasties ,time and space. From the perspective of Buddhism, one is teaching people who should start from the kindness and belongs to the caution about the cause. In the meantime, it also warns people good and evil are antagonistic relations, we should choose cautiously. Another is starting with the result, and tells people bad fortune have left away although good fortune doesn’t come yet if you do good things. Definitely it is the fortune of result. On the contrary, if you do bad things, even bad fortune does not come, good fortune have left away.

Chinese traditional culture contains the spirit of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, which is very mysterious and profound. Our Buddha Dharma always tells us what is happiness , How to bring the real happiness, What is suffering and How to avoid it. At many times we always keep our eyes on the changes which will happen at home, and are eager to be a god and get everything we want although we just start learning Buddhism. So we should have right concept of causation and firm confidence. What goes around comes around. Causation is the truth. If we can abstain from evil and cultivate good to purify our mind, why care about the result? they will never grow into melons in autumn if the beans are sowed in spring.
