在正确运用妙观察智来观察外境是,一切相状都不存在,犹如乌云融入虚空一般。所谓“妙观察”就是将粗法抉择为细法,再将细法分析为无方分微尘,如此就可将所贪的对境,比如我们这个身体用妙观察的智慧进行详详细细地观察,最后我们会得到一切法都是空性的结论。同样,观察自心也是犹如阳焰水一样,是空性。总这,外境与自心皆了不可得。


至于春天阳焰水,有众多野兽执之为真实的大海而疲于奔命,但一个人如果有智慧,知道这不是真正的水而是阳焰水,那他就不会为此而操劳。同理,我们应该认识贪心的本体,认识之后自己在生活中就不会苦恼。这样我们观察了生烦恼的外境和心识,然后再观察它的作用,得知这一切也都是虚伪不实。

In the right use of the wisdom of subtle observation to observe the external appearance, that is, all forms do not exist, just as dark cloud blends into the void. The so-called "subtle observation" is to choose elaborated ways instead of rough ways, and then analyse them into particles, so that we can observe the external appearance we covert, such as observing our body in every detail with the wisdom of subtle observation, finally we will come to the conclusion that all the teachings are empty. In the same way, observing inner mind, just as the flame water, is empty too. Above all, external appearance and inner mind can not be both got.


As for the spring flame water, many beasts are attached to rushing for the real sea, but if a person is with wisdom, he’d know it’s not real water but flame water, then he doesn’t have to obsess over it. Similarly, we should realize the nature of greed, and not be distressed after that. In this way, we observe the external appearance and inner mind which cause trouble, then re-observe its function, we would realize everything is empty.
