当我们遭遇怨敌伤害时,浅慧之人自然对敌人生起嗔心,乃至采取各种惨绝人伦的报复手段,如此错误的后果我们可想而知。释迦牟尼佛也曾着重指出,所有的痛苦与快乐为众生自己前世的业力所致,所伤害自己的原因归咎于外境与别人而不知励力忏悔业障的这种人,只会增上分别烦恼,而在这个怪圈中无法解脱,今生来世也不能远离痛苦。

本来世间的一切万法都是缘起显现的,其根本是众生的无明烦恼,若不解于此,而以为外境伤害我,自己所造的罪业果报却埋怨他人,这并非明智的想法。如身处地狱的业重众生,不管怎么对阎罗卒生起嗔心也毫无意义,对有情生起嗔恨心只会毁坏自己的今生后世,尤其在人们患病之时,对病魔和鬼神生起嗔恨心,就会给自己的今生来世带来无边的痛苦。


法王如意宝开示


When suffering injuries from hateful enemies, hatred will arise within one who lacks wisdom and even brutal reprisals to revenge. The consequence of this wrong doing is obvious. Shakyamuni Buddha also stressed once that the sentient beings’ hardship and happiness are brought about by their own karma from previous lives. Those who attribute it to the external factors and others without much effort in confession for their own evil karma will find their afflictions of differentiation increasing. They will be unable to be free from this vicious cycle and unable to go without miseries in this and future lives.

Everything in the world manifests itself by pratitya-samutpada. This is due to the sentient beings’ avidya. If ignorant to this truth and attribute one’s sufferings to others, and complain about others though the retribution of evil karma is brought about by oneself. This is unwise. Like the beings with heavy evil karma in the hell, whose hatred to other sentient beings will destroy their own current and coming life, however intense their hatred to the Yama soldiers. Especially when one is ill, if hatred arises toward illness demon, ghosts or gods, one will bring endless pains to this life and after life of his/her own.
